Terms of Service

Last updated: May 27, 2026

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Orvoca, including the web console, Chrome extension, mobile app, APIs, email, notifications, and related services. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

If you use Orvoca on behalf of another person or organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that person or organization.

2. Service description

Orvoca helps users capture words and phrases from reading, review them in context, and sync vocabulary records across supported surfaces. The current Service includes a web console, Chrome extension, mobile app surfaces, and associated APIs. Some features may be experimental, limited, or unavailable on certain platforms.

The current phase is provided free of charge. If paid plans are introduced, Orvoca will provide separate pricing, renewal, cancellation, and refund terms before charging you.

3. Accounts and security

  • You must provide accurate account information and keep it current.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • You must not share your account, sell access, or use another user's account.
  • You must promptly notify Orvoca if you believe your account or device has been compromised.

4. User content and license

You retain ownership of words, phrases, notes, context, settings, and other content you submit or capture through the Service. You grant Orvoca a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to store, process, transmit, display, and technically transform that content only as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and improve the Service.

You are responsible for ensuring that your captured content does not violate law, third party rights, confidentiality obligations, or platform rules.

5. Extension and capture rules

  • The Chrome extension works only on sites for which you grant host permission.
  • You must not use capture features to collect passwords, payment information, personal identification numbers, confidential business information, or content you are not allowed to process.
  • Orvoca may filter, reject, or limit captures to protect privacy, security, reliability, and service integrity.

6. Prohibited conduct

You must not:

  • Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, infringing, or abusive purposes.
  • Reverse engineer, scrape, overload, probe, or bypass the Service or APIs.
  • Interfere with security controls, rate limits, authentication, or access controls.
  • Upload malware, spam, deceptive content, or content that violates another person's rights.
  • Use automated tools except through interfaces expressly provided by Orvoca.

7. Third-party services and content

Orvoca uses third-party services for authentication, infrastructure, email, notifications, error monitoring, dictionary lookup, and translation. Third-party dictionary definitions, translations, examples, and platform services may be incomplete, unavailable, or inaccurate. Orvoca does not guarantee third-party content or services.

8. Privacy and communications

Personal information is processed under the Privacy Policy. Transactional notices may be sent where necessary for account, security, verification, password reset, service, or legal reasons. Marketing email or marketing push notifications are sent only where you have opted in or where applicable law allows them, and you may opt out at any time.

9. Service changes, suspension, and termination

Orvoca may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service for maintenance, security, legal, operational, or product reasons. Where practical, Orvoca will provide prior notice for material changes that adversely affect users.

Orvoca may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, create legal risk, abuse the Service, or threaten security or reliability. You may stop using the Service or delete your account at any time.

10. Account deletion and data export

You may delete your account from the Service settings or request deletion by contacting Orvoca. Account deletion is permanent and removes associated Orvoca database records, subject to records that must be retained by law or legitimate dispute, security, and abuse prevention needs. Export features may be limited during the current free phase.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the maximum extent permitted by law. Orvoca does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, permanent data retention, learning outcomes, translation accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

12. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Orvoca is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or lost-profit damages. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability caused by intent or gross negligence where such exclusion is not permitted.

13. Changes to these Terms

Orvoca may update these Terms as the Service, law, or operations change. Material changes will be announced through the website, Service, or email where appropriate. If a change materially disadvantages you, Orvoca will provide a reasonable notice period and a way to reject the change where required by law. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court under Korean civil procedure, unless mandatory consumer protection law provides otherwise.
